Check if your Tesla has a Recall

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. TeslaeBay logo, Inc. has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles. Our records show that you are the owner of a vehicle affected by this action.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL

On affected vehicles, a software error may cause the tail lamps on one or both sides to illuminate intermittently which may cause false fault detections during the vehicle wake up process. A taillamp that intermittently illuminates may result in reduced visibility in dark conditions, which may increase the risk of a collision.

WHAT TESLAeBay logo WILL DO

TeslaeBay logo remedied this issue with a free over-the-air (โ€œOTAโ€) software update that prevents false fault detections during the vehicle wake up process, which ensures that all taillamps operate as designed.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please check that your vehicle is running software version 2022.40.100, 2022.40.4 or any later release, all of which contain the remedy. You can check the software version running on your vehicle by tapping โ€˜Controlsโ€™ then โ€˜Softwareโ€™ on your touchscreen. If your vehicle is running any one of the software versions listed above, then there is no further action that you need to take, and you may disregard this notice. If your vehicle is not running one of these software versions, then please install the latest pending software update through your TeslaeBay logo app, or by tapping the yellow clock icon on your vehicleโ€™s touchscreen and following the prompts. For awareness, software updates typically take between 20 to 60 minutes to complete. See www.teslaeBay logo.com/support/software-updates for additional details on TeslaeBay logo vehicle software updates.

Condition

Certain 2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles built with global taillights and running firmware versions 2022.28 and later, but before 2022.40.4.1, may require a firmware update to address intermittently illuminating taillights on one or both sides of the vehicle. This condition does not affect brake lamp, backup lamp, or turn signal lamp operation.

Correction

Inspect the vehicle firmware version, and if necessary, update the vehicle firmware to version 2022.40.4.1 or later.

Procedure

On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Software, and then scroll down to display the vehicle firmware version.

  • If the vehicle is operating with a firmware version before 28, or 2022.40.4.1 and later, no further action is necessary. Use correction code S012200016.
  • If the vehicle is operating with firmware version 2022.28 or later, but before 2022.40.4.1, update to version 2022.40.4.1 or later (refer to Service Manual procedure 00020003; Model 3, Model Y). Use correction code
